A.S. Prote Maritime Ltd presented at the 12th NMIOTC International Conference which aims to present issues and share the views of the international community on how technological innovations will affect maritime security, taking into account the full range of disruptive technologies and their impact on the shipping community. It was held on 1-2 June 2021 in Souda under the theme: “Opportunities and Threats from Innovative and Disruptive Technologies: Shaping the Future of Security in the Maritime Sector and focused on, but was not limited to, the following four key pillars:
• International policy and strategy for innovative and disruptive technologies
• Opportunities and threats of innovative technologies and operational challenges in the shipping sector
• New technology capabilities and solutions in maritime security (Artificial intelligence, unmanned autonomous vehicles, intelligent machines, lethal autonomous Weapon Systems, Robotics, SMI, etc.).
• Formation of a legal and administrative framework for the application of new technologies
Topics were presented and analyzed in the English language and to an international audience, related to maritime security, as well as proposals for common understanding between NATO allies and partners,
with the participation of the military and academic community as well as the private sector, in a wider range of maritime security applications.
